Sarah Jane “Janie” (Cochran) Horton, 91, of Hardy, Arkansas, passed away, November 9, 2018, at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was born March 23, 1927, in Hardy, to John Delbert “Dell” and Ora Barbara (Armstrong) Cochran. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Carl Horton and her second husband, Curtis Neal Horton; sisters, Wilma Pauline Stroud and Dorothy Ann Cochran; brothers: William Robert, David Lee, Edgar Kenneth, Billy Delbert, James Clifford, and John Franklin Cochran. Survivors include her sisters, Margie Mae Jones of Brookland, Arkansas, and Margaret “Fran” Cranmer of Rogers, Arkansas; a host of nieces and nephews; many other relatives and good friends. Janie was known for her gardening, cooking, canning, and caring for others. She was a gifted sharing woman who loved her family and her plants. “She raised chickens, hunted, and lived off the land. She was truly special … one who was tough, yet generous … a spirited soul.” Visitation of family and friends will be Friday, November 16, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with the funeral immediately following, all in the Tri-County Funeral Home Chapel at Highland, Arkansas.
