Eleanor Ruth Smith, 86, of Williford, Arkansas, was born July 10, 1933, in Memphis and passed away August 5, 2019, in a Jonesboro hospital. She was a member of the Assembly of God and enjoyed gardening, dancing, picking blackberries, and going to yard sales. She had worked as a book binder. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ora Mae (Russell) Butler; her husband, Clyde L. Smith; sons, Don Leon and David E. Smith; grandson, Michael J. Lentz; sister, Christine Tathinen; half-sister, Opal Thompson; and half-brother, Carl Williams. Survivors include her daughters, Barbara (Robert) Murphey of Hot Springs Village and Connie (James) Hooks of Ozark Acres; six grandchildren: Tesha, James Jr., Shawn, Amy, Amanda, and Brandon; 25 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Irene McClintock and Sue Smith; brothers, Jerry and Jimmy (Joyce) Butler; numerous nieces and nephews; her companion of ten years, Mack Hawkins; many other relatives and good friends. Visitation of family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 7, in the chapel of Tri-County Funeral Home at Highland. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, August 8, also in Tri-County Funeral Home Chapel, with Jonny Surber and James Hooks officiating. Burial will follow in Baker Cemetery north of Ozark Acres. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Hooks, Shawn Hooks, Chase Surber, Brandon Smith, Jerry Rock, and Jody Shackelford. Arrangements are with Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland, Arkansas.
