Ron “Poppa” Child, 78, of Cherokee Village, Arkansas, passed away Friday, September 4, 2020. He was born May 1, 1942, in Ogden, Utah, and served his country in the Army National Guard. Ron loved God as a member of LDS, served as a Boy Scout leader, and volunteered as a Watchdog Dad. He enjoyed birds, especially hummingbirds, and referred to his favorite dog as “Joey Child.” His love for family included hobbies of cooking, gardening, and canning veggies & fruits. He worked as a journeyman engineer. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie Elwood and Ida Rock Child, and three brothers: Tyke, Gary, and Larry. Survivors include his wife, Billie; four sons: Jason (Rhiannon) of Evening Shade, Arkansas, Alex of West Plains, Missouri, David (Tannara) of Pocahontas, Arkansas, and Scott of West Plains; seven grandchildren: Johnathan (Angel) Summers, Jason Jr., Zachariah, Joseph, Eli, Ozzy, and Kaleb; five great-grandchildren: Johnathan & Carmen Child, Skyler & Aydin Rogers, and Sean Holtz; many other relatives and good friends. Services will be Thursday, September 10, at church of Latter Day Saints in Ash Flat, Arkansas. Visitation of family and friends will be from noon to 2 p.m. with the funeral following. Burial will be in Campground Cemetery. Arrangements are with Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland, Arkansas.
