Robert Roberts

August 31, 1945 — March 6, 2022

Robert Eugene Roberts, 76, of Hardy, Arkansas was born August 31, 1945 in Memphis, Tennessee to Freddie and Helen Kernodle Roberts. He entered eternal rest March 6, 2022 in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Robert was a member of First Baptist Church in Hardy. He served his country as a U.S. Marine and in the Air Force and Army Reserve; he was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Prior to Robert's death, military honors were conducted in his presence at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. Robert worked in the banking industry for FNBC in Ash Flat and Hardy and with James Bragg at MyHomeTownRadioStations (KSAR 92.3, The River 98.3, KOOL 104.7) announcing Lady Rebel basketball games for several years. Robert also announced Rebel softball and baseball games and was an extremely active fundraising member as Sales Manager of the Highland Rebel Booster Club. The advertising banners and posters in the Hutson Center are quite impressive as a part of his legacy . . . all to benefit the student-athletes and assist the coaches in the Highland School District. In his "spare time" Robert thoroughly enjoyed playing golf. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Clifford Smith; several brothers and sisters; and his wife's parents, Joe and Kathleen Lofton. Survivors include his wife, Pam Roberts; grandchildren: Dylan Roberts and Lane Owen, both of Basin, Wyoming, Devon and Matthew Mitchell; a brother, Tim, and two sisters, Tammy and Nancy, all of Mississippi; special relatives, Aubrey Owen and Misty Owen; a son, Brian Roberts; a daughter, Kristi Mitchell; many other relatives and good friends. Services will be Wednesday, March 9, in the chapel of Tri-County Funeral Home at Highland with Bro. Ferrell Duffel officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time at 11. Burial will follow in Bexar Cemetery south of Viola. Pallbearers include Sam Hill, Noel Horneck, Rocky McCollum, Kevin Burton, Dennis Burton, and Rocky McCollum Jr. Honorary pallbearer is David Hull.
