After a courageous health journey, Robert Matthew Ellenburg Kaubisch of Salem, Arkansas passed away at 9:16 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. As he crossed over into Heaven, he was surrounded in love by Mitch, Colleen, David, and Terry. Rob was born in Rapid City, South Dakota on Tuesday, May 29, 1962 to Melford and Carol (Hall) Kaubisch. He grew up in Box Elder, SD and graduated from Douglas High School in the Class of 1980. After leaving South Dakota, he lived in Corpus Christi, Texas; Scottsbluff, Nebraska; Arizona, Tennessee, and Tyronza, Arkansas. In 2016 Rob and Mitch retired to Fulton County near Salem, Arkansas. Rob was a hard worker, and after working for Cook Home Paints, he began his career in the automotive paint industry. He served as a Regional Operations Manager for 32 years with Sherwin Williams/National Oak Distributors working in Tucson, AZ, Phoenix, AZ, and finally Memphis, TN. Rob was instantly loved by all who knew him. He was genuine, never pretentious, and he loved life. He enjoyed music of all genres, boating with family and friends, and his beloved home on "The Hill" which hosted many gatherings for good friends and family. He was a Christian and was loved by his Family of Faith at Hardy United Methodist Church in Hardy, Arkansas. He was predeceased by grandparents, Francis and Florence Kaubisch and Ambrose and Thelma Hall; his aunt, Ronna Christoffer; longtime friend, Jerry Jones; and sister-in-law, Amy Ellenburg Miller. Rob is survived by his husband, Mitchell Ellenburg Kaubisch; his parents, Melford and Carol Kaubisch of Hill City, SD; brother and sister-in-law, David and Terry Kaubisch of Apache Junction, AZ; his sister, Colleen (Kaubisch) Zanotti of San Jose, CA; niece, Amanda Winter (Ryan); nephew, Shawn Jones (Heide); niece, Francesca Zanotti; an aunt, Carol and Owen Wiederhold; and an uncle, Steve and Pam Kaubisch; cousins: Pat Wiederhold, Darci Ferebee, and Brandon Christoffer. Special friends to Rob were Jonathan Russom, Justin Conway, and Donnie Wethington in addition to many other friends (too many to name), who all meant so much to him. Exodus 23:20 ~ "See, I am sending an Angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared." A celebration of Rob's life will be announced in mid-October and held at Hardy United Methodist Church. The final inurnment will be in Hill City Cemetery in Hill City, South Dakota. Fourth St., Hardy, AR 72542 or American Cancer Society, c/o Harrahs Hope Lodge, Memphis, TN, where Rob and Mitch were blessed to stay for more than twelve weeks.
