Pallbearers include Daniel, Jacob, Nathan, and Bruce Van Aalsburg, Joshua and Wayne Bennett. Phillip was born July 18, 1945 in Couch, Missouri to Opal Melissa (Alford) and Hubert Franklin Bennett. He married Brenda Ladon Pingleton on June 19, 1964, and to this union three children were born. He went home to be with our Lord and Savior, after a long fight with cancer, on January 6, 2022 surrounded by his loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jeffery Dean Bennett; two brothers, Clifford and Clinton Bennett; four sisters: Pauline Martin, Francis Frisbee, Lois Baxley, and Carolyn Montgomery. Survivors include his wife, Brenda Ladon Bennett of the home; a daughter, VaNessa (Bruce) Van Aalsburg and a son, Wayne (Loretta) Bennett, all of Hardy; a brother, Jim Bennett of Mountain View, Missouri and a sister, Glenda Steininger of Dodge City, Kansas. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren: Christina Bennett, Daniel Van Aalsburg, Nicole Steele, Elisha Boch, Jessica Forrester, Joshua Bennett, Jacob Van Aalsburg, Aaron Rhoades, Nathan Van Aalsburg, Chasity Chapps, and Joseph Chapps as well as 12 great-grandchildren: Maylen, Ian, Maxwell, Brooklyn, Rowan, Isabella, Logan, Eleanor, Serenity, Ali, Jameson, and Brantley. Phillip was a loving son, brother, husband, dad, papa, and great-papa. He owned and operated Bennett Roofing Contractor along with his sons for many years. He loved listening to classic country music, playing poker with his brothers, and playing Rummikub or Texas Hold'em with his daughter and her family. His favorite hobbies were hunting, fishing, finding wild morel mushrooms and ginseng roots, mowing his yard, vegetable gardening, and bird watching at his feeders. He was known to grow a huge garden every year and would always give his best vegetables to others and leave the ugliest vegetables for himself and Brenda. He never let food go to waste and always made sure everyone was fed before he fed himself. Phillip will be lovingly remembered as a strong, caring, and giving man by all who knew him. The family asked that in lieu of flowers donations be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, which is what Phillip would have wanted: 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or 1-800-805-5856. Arrangements are entrusted to Tri-County Funeral Home, 1540 Hwy. 62/412, Highland, AR 72542.
