Paul Mooney, 87, of Cherokee Village, Arkansas passed away May 20, 2021 at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Irvin and Nancy Goldman Mooney, four siblings: Roy and Coit Mooney, Estelle Denton, and Mozelle Meadows, and his wife, Shirley. Paul lived most of his early years in Caraway, Arkansas before joining the U.S. Army. He spent twenty-three years of his thirty plus years teaching math in Artesia, New Mexico. Paul enjoyed bowling and fishing and loved quail and deer hunting. He was a dyed-in-the-wool fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. Survivors include his daughter, Rhonda Peeler of Cherokee Village; a son, Gerald Mooney of Daytona Beach, Florida; two grandchildren, Dallas Schmitt and Angelene Mooney; four great-grandchildren: Kole, Saige, Quinn, and Jane; a special niece, Pam Whitehead; a sister, Sue Halk; a special friend, Dorothy Haufe; many other relatives and good friends. Memorial services will be Saturday, June 26 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the chapel of Tri-County Funeral Home at Highland, Arkansas.
