Marlin Robert Thyer, 81, of Highland, Arkansas, passed away at his home Tuesday, February 25, 2020. He was born December 9, 1938, in Shenandoah, Iowa, to Robert and Mary (Pritchard) Thyer. Marlin was a master chemist who developed water-based metallic paint and worked in the coatings industry. He was a member of Chrysler Car Club and had an unmatched enthusiasm for collecting antique letter cars (e.g., the Chrysler 300 B). Survivors include his wife, Julia, of the home; children: Chris and Cindy Thyer, Brad and Margie Thyer, Bobby and Deidre Thyer, Jodie and Jim Baker; grandchildren: Alexis Wheat, Jack Thyer, Will Thyer, Mason Baker, Victoria Thyer, Brylee Baker, Braden Thyer, Elizabeth Thyer, and Zane Thyer; great-grandson, Carter Wheat; and step-son, Perrin Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Wallace and June. The family will gather to share stories with friends at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 29, in the chapel of Tri-County Funeral Home in Highland. In lieu of flowers, memorials are encouraged to an animal rescue program or facility of the donor's choice.
