Lowell Parten, 87, of Cherokee Village, Arkansas, passed away December 26, 2019, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Pocahontas, Arkansas, on December 5, 1932. Lowell was united in marriage to Charleen Brewer on July 21, 1951, in Leachville, Arkansas. He was a member of Ash Flat Church of Christ, working and supporting his church in many ways. He enjoyed yard work and his lawn was one of the prettiest and well-kept around. Lowell was an avid hunter, fisherman, and wood worker. He was proud of their farmland in Marianna and treasured time spent on his hunting property. He always showed kindness and was a gentleman. When asked how he was, he would reply, "just right". He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all. Survivors include his wife, Charleen of the home; son: Davie Parten (Dana) of West Fork, Arkansas; daughters: Pamela Parten Pickett and Paula Parten Curtis (Bill), both of Marianna; grandchildren: Nathan, Jonathan, Brandon, Daniel Lowell, and Anna Laura; great-grandchildren: Paige, Wesley, Mollie, Wyatt, Denver, and Beckam; two great-great-grandchildren: Lila and Sawyer; a sister, Louise Nichols of Jonesboro; many other relatives, neighbors, and good friends. Lowell was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Parten Jones; grandson, 1st Lt. Tyler Edward Parten; parents, Henry Edward and Beatrice White Parten; brothers, Bill and Jack Parten; and sister, Dorothy Coleman. Funeral services will be held at the Ash Flat Church of Christ on Saturday, December 28, 2019, at 11 a.m. Family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service. A funeral service will be held at the Marianna Church of Christ on Sunday, December 29, at 2:30 p.m. with Steve Yarberrry officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow in Marianna Memorial Park Cemetery in Marianna, Arkansas.
