Lois Omalee Garner, 95, of Hardy, Arkansas, formerly of Rochelle, Illinois, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2023. She was born May 6, 1927 in Vanndale, Arkansas to Lonnie Layton and Sellia Jane Williams Holt. She was the ultimate homemaker raising four children with her husband, Beverly Austin Garner. They were members of the Church of God. Lois was an excellent cook, especially remembered for carrying on the family tradition of chocolate gravy among so many other wonderfully edible foods, a gardener and seamstress for the family and others, and a master of multiple crafts. Her passion was for flowers: growing, receiving, and admiring them. She was preceded in death by her husband, Beverly Austin Garner; a daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn Lois and Jerry Knight; a son-in-law, Ron Harper Sr.; her parents; three sisters: Artavee Holt, Joy DuBois, and LonEll Holt; and two brothers, Verlon and Vernest Holt. Survivors include her daughters, Barbara Harper of Ash Flat and Linda (Mike) Chunko of Rochelle, IL; a son, Steven Garner (Mona Otts) of Hardy; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; many other relatives; and a host of friends. SHE LOVED THEM ALL! A graveside service (by Lois's request) will be Tuesday, February 21, at 2 p.m. in the Highland Cemetery with burial next to her beloved husband. Music and eulogy will be provided by family and friends. Pallbearers include Kevin Weber, Kevin Chunko, Matthew Garner, Anthony Garner, Tom Sherrill, and Bobby Gilbreath. Honorary Pallbearer is Richard Knight. The family encourages monetary donations honoring the life of Mrs. Garner be made to Legacy Hospice, P.O. Box 9, Salem, AR 72576.
