Lee Richard Giles of Hardy, Arkansas, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on January 9, 2021. Lee is remembered as a faithful man of God, devoted husband to Glenna J. (Rodgers) Giles, loving father to his children, and adored grandfather to his grand and great-grandchildren. He was recently preceded in death by his sister, Mary VanDyke Lyons, and son-in-law, Fred Balentine. Lee had a life-long career as a carpenter and contractor in the Hardy area. He enjoyed creating beauty in his work and was known for exceptional craftsmanship and honesty. Lee was a committed and active member of Agnos church of Christ and always sought to serve God with integrity. In retirement he enjoyed working in his garden, bird watching, singing (slightly off key), and volunteering at the church. Lee was known by many names: Mr. Lee, Papa, Poppie, and, of course, Dad. He enjoyed studying God's word, making biscuits, playing solitaire, and telling "dad" jokes. Lee is missed greatly by his wife, Glenna; children: Tim Giles and Niki of Rathdrum, Idaho, Joe Giles and Debra of Highland, Arkansas, Janie Giles Carp of Jackson, Tennessee, Dustin Hatcher and Tonette of Columbia, Missouri, and Robert Giles of Little Rock; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren, with one on the way; sister-in-law, Peggy Flynn and Brian of Mound Ridge, Kansas; and many more loving relatives and friends. A private memorial service will be held later in 2021. in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Children's Home Inc., 5515 Walcott Road, Paragould, AR 72540.
