Kathryn Marie Van Lieu, 67, of Salem, Arkansas, passed away October 26, 2018, in Memphis, Tennessee. She was born February 10, 1951, in Waterloo, Iowa. As an adult, she joined the U.S.A. military service; after serving her country, she moved to California. There she married Larry Van Lieu in 1988. Kathryn worked at a facility for disabled people showing them how to cope with living on their own. Following the death of her husband in 2014, she moved to Ash Flat, Arkansas, to be with her mother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Van Lieu; her father, Sanford Lewis; a sister, Janice Carpenter; and great-niece, Britny Picknell. Survivors include her mother, Carolyn Lewis; sisters, Patricia (Len) Hanna of Mountain View and Valinda (Lyle) Scott of Stout, Iowa; a brother, Mike (Sheryl) Lewis of Ash Flat; numerous nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and great-nephews. Kathy will be missed by these and many other relatives and good friends. A memorial service is planned for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 24, at the Civic Center in Salem. Arrangements are with Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland, Arkansas.
