Juanita Rees, 99, of Hardy, Arkansas passed away in Ash Flat at EagleCrest Nursing and Rehab where she had been a resident for three years. She was born in Hardy and was a member of Hardy First Baptist Church. Juanita had been employed as Hardy and Sharp County librarian doing exceptional clerical work for 50 years. Encouraging others with her faith in God and to excel in their efforts were only two of her great passions. She loved her family, particularly as it expanded. Her hobbies included art, especially painting, and reading. She had also been active in the American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include her son, Freddie Joe Rees of Hardy; four grandchildren: Matt, Belinda, Freddie Jr., and Eric; nine great-grandchildren; twelve great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-grandchild; a sister, Oneida Rees of Missouri; a brother, Bill Rumsey of Louisiana; many other relatives and good friends. Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Jeffie (Biggers) Rumsey; her husband, Clifford Arthur Rees; and her daughter-in-law, Pat (Wiles) Rees. Visitation of family and friends will be Friday, June 10, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the chapel of Tri-County Funeral Home at Highland. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Hardy First Baptist Church with Carl "Bucky" Rees officiating. Burial will follow in Hardy Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Matt, Tyler, Freddie Jr., Eric, and William Rees and Adam Crozier. Honorary pallbearers include Jordan McDuffie and Ernie Rose. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Shriners, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, or Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock.
