Joy Gattenby, 76, of Cherokee Village, Arkansas died April 11, 2023 at her residence. She was born January 26, 1947 in McAlester, Oklahoma to Otho and Lois Williams. Joy graduated from McAlester High School; she married Elvin Gattenby on October 28, 1972. Joy was an avid camper and a true "people person" who loved to travel with her husband and friends. She was known as "the Elvis lady" because of her decades of collecting Elvis Presley memorabilia. She also had time and patience to do beautiful needlework. Joy was active locally in the Cherokee Village Craft Club, the Quilters Club, and Cherokee Square Dancers. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Hugh Newman; and a nephew, Chris Newman. Survivors include her husband of more than fifty years; a sister, Linda Lasua of Pueblo, Colorado; a niece, Jennifer Melton (Shawn) of McAlester; nephews: Nick Dobbs of Ohio and Dion Dobbs of Colorado; great-nephews: Christian Melton (Baley), Micah Melton (Jaden), Jesse Shed, and Cody Dobbs; great-nieces: Audrey and Brittany Dobbs; two great-great-nieces, Evelyn and Isla Wielder. Celebration of Life services will be Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 11 a.m. in the Tri-County Funeral Home Chapel in Highland. Interment will be in Memory Gardens in McAlester, Oklahoma. Arrangements are with Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland, Arkansas.
