Joan Florer, 73, of Ozark Acres near Williford, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2020, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. She was born March 1, 1947, in East Chicago, Indiana, to Dugger and Dorothy Helms Burnette. Jo worked as a registered nurse for decades at Randolph County Medical Center in Pocahontas, Arkansas, where she was beloved by co-workers and patients alike. In her retirement she volunteered with Spring River Ambulance Service and EagleCrest Nursing & Rehab Center in Ash Flat, Arkansas. In her spare time, her hobbies included beadwork and jewelry. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Jeannie Burnette. Survivors include her husband, James "Jimmie" Paul Florer; a son, Shayne (Stacie) Florer of Roanoke, Virginia; two sisters, Marie Lowe and Donna Lee; four brothers: Tom, Charles, Frank, and Doug Burnette; many nieces and nephews; long-time best friend Susie Matlock; bonus grandchildren: Molly, Megan, McKenzi, and Maxwell Mustread; other relatives and good friends. Friends and loved ones will celebrate Jo's life Sunday, July 26, at Skaggs Church of Christ in Pocahontas. Sharing of favorite memories and desserts will begin a social hour at 3 p.m. with a memorial service following at 4 p.m. In honor of Jo, wearing of bright colors is encouraged to contribute to the celebration.
