Jo Ann Bailey

Jo Ann Nix Bailey was born in Ash Flat, Arkansas to Walter Lehman "Buddy" and Tressie Lee Ellis Nix. She departed this life February 7, 2022 in Cherokee Village at the age of 76 years, 2 months, and 11 days. Jo Ann was united in marriage to Cletus Bailey on September 15, 1963, and together they shared a blessed life for 58 years. Jo Ann was a wonderful cook. If she loved you, she fed you; it was her love language! You never left her home hungry or empty-handed. She canned vegetables to keep her family fed. Jo Ann was an accomplished seamstress making clothes for her kids, grandkids, and even the greats. She made many "horse show" clothes for friends and made David and Cade "Elvis" outfits. Jo Ann took great pride in her home and loved decorating it for every holiday. She was also an excellent teacher who loved her co-workers and students; she took great joy in teaching children how to read. Jo Ann was a "worry wart" and worried about everyone else's well-being because she loved them! She was a member of Myron Baptist Church and a true Christian lady. Survivors include her husband, Cletus of the home in Ash Flat; daughter, Kelly (Lance) Marlin; son, David (Sherri) Bailey; seven grandchildren: Jacki (Barry), Preston (Ashley), Sami (Hunter), Cody, Chance (Abby), LeAlyson (Ryan), and Cade; nine great-grandchildren: Gage, Finley, Conner, Kinsley, Payton, Willa, Tressie, Kinsley, and Emery; one sister, Debbie McCollum; a brother, Ronald Nix; and a host of friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Neal McCord; one sister-in-law, Joyce Nix; and a brother-in-law, Clyde McCollum. Funeral services will be Friday, February 11, 2022 at noon in the Myron Baptist Church with Bro. Ardel Polk and Bro. Hunter Hardin officiating. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Interment will be in the Wiles Cemetery at Ash Flat.
