James "Jim" Bruce Morris Jr. passed away March 7, 2023 at his home in Highland, Arkansas at the age of 77. He was born March 26, 1945 in Kansas City, Missouri. In high school Jim was a boxer and played football. He was awarded a full scholarship to the Air Force Academy but joined the Army. He did go to several colleges and earned multiple degrees before and after military service. Jim attended Oklahoma State University and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business, Foothill College in Mt. View, California, Lyon College in Batesville, Arkansas, obtaining both a BS in Business Accounting and a Masters in Accounting. Jim’s service to his country was in Vietnam where he began as a warrant officer and became a helicopter pilot. He was a three-time Purple Heart recipient. A grateful nation thanks him for his service. His passion was fast cars, especially vintage Corvettes, and constant music. He was also involved in handcrafting war games building miniature battles across the U.S. and had one of the biggest hobby stores in San Francisco. Survivors include his loving and attentive wife Mary Jo; children: Matt (Stephani), Angela, Sydney, LaDonna Mae (Joe), Jo Michelle, Kimberly (Jamie), and Shane (Sophia); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; special friends, Samantha and Evelyn; many other relatives and good friends. Family and friends will celebrate Jim’s life Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 2 p.m. in the Abundant Life Church on Hwy. 62/412. He showed his love for God and people as an active member there.
