Hope O. Griffin, 98, longtime resident of Cherokee Village, Arkansas, and widow of the late O.S. “Bill” Griffin passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, May 5, 2020. The family will have a memorial service at a later date in Canton, Texas. Hope was born August 5, 1921, in Clarksdale, Mississippi, to C. G. and Mabel (Koch) Williams. On November 17, 1941, Hope and Bill were united in marriage in Corpus Christi, Texas, where they made their first home. It would be 41 years later after living in Texas, Louisiana, Missouri, Colorado, Kansas, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts before they retired in Cherokee Village. Hope enjoyed retirement as she volunteered at the hospital gift shop, gardened, sewed, painted, square danced, fed the deer that arrived daily, hosted neighborhood parties, played the stock market, and was occasionally seen on the golf course. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Marilyn; granddaughter, Wendy; great-grandchildren: Ray, Savanna, Maci, and Megan; great-great-grandchildren: Kamden and Bryson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sisters, Billie and Faith, and grandson, Travis. Arrangements are with Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland, Arkansas.
