Gena Lee Hill, 91, of Highland, Arkansas, passed away May 17, 2019, in Batesville. She was born in Center to Marshall and Minnie Causbie Buchanan. She was valedictorian of her Ash Flat, Arkansas, high school graduating class and completed business college in Chillicothe, Missouri. She had worked as secretary to the Treasurer of Pan-Am Southern Corporation in the oil industry. Gena was a Bible scholar and faithfully active member of Ward St. Church of Christ. As a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, she shared her sincerest efforts in gardening, cooking, and sewing with family and friends. She was a homemaker who grew and canned vegetables for her loving husband and four children across the USA: New Orleans & Chalmette, Louisiana, Salt Lake City, and Downers Grove, Illinois, before moving to Highland in 1984. She also liked her travels on trips to Europe, Hawaii, Canada, and Alaska. Her passion for flowers provided beauty to others and leadership roles in the Hardy Garden Club. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers: J.M., Charles, and Douglas Buchanan. Survivors include her husband of 72 blissful and blessed years, J. Wayne Hill; children: Ann and Don Becker of Aurora, Colorado, Terrance and Susan Hill of Center, Robert and Becky Hill of St. Charles, Illinois, Bryan and Leah Hill of Phoenix, Arizona; grandchildren: Meghan, Caitlin, Jay, Adam, Bryan, Kim, Danny, Marla, Laura, Jackson, and Randall; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Haynes; a brother and his wife, Bruce and Linda Buchanan; and a host of other relatives and good friends. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, at Ward St. Church of Christ in Hardy. Visitation of family and friends will be at the church from 9:30 until time of service. Pallbearers will be Jerry Meade, Danny Slayton, Larry Copeland, James Causbie, Bobby Higginbottom, Danny McEntire, and Don Morgan. Honorary pallbearers are Jackson Hill, Bryan Becker, and Randall Hill.
