Elta “Jean” Cook, 74, of Thayer, Missouri passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2022. She was born May 9, 1948 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Jean accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized. She enjoyed services with the congregation at Word of Life Tabernacle. She loved her husband and children with all her heart and took great pride in the cleanliness of her home. The kitchen was her “domain”; lamb dishes were her specialty. She enjoyed playing baseball with the kids when they were young, and she liked television game shows, especially Wheel of Fortune (often solving the puzzles before the contestants or family members). Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Luther Wesley and Eunice Oceal Guilliams Ross; her husband, Franklin Cook; and three sisters: Della Doan (Charles), Retha Gibson (Curtis), and twin, Delta June Sunde. Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Smith Morris (Todd) of Kamiah, Idaho; twin sons, Robert Smith of Thayer and Ronnie Smith (Ann) of Clarkston, Washington; grandsons: Caleb & Joshua Mondragon and Jerry & Joe Eddy; great-grandchildren, Macen & Genny; brother-in-law, Len Sunde; several nieces and nephews, many other relatives, and good friends; special friends, Nancy Hicks and Bettie Jones. “Celebrating a Life” will honor Jean at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 28, in Word of Life Tabernacle at 1 Oak Ridge Road, Hardy, AR 72542 with Bro. Ben Pruitt and Bro. Joel Pruitt officiating. Burial was private in Eagle’s Rest Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Tri-County Funeral Home at Highland, Arkansas.
