Durenda Smith Cox, 61, of Agnos passed away at White River Medical Center in Batesville, Arkansas. She was born in Mammoth Spring and graduated from Highland High School in 1978. She married James Fred Cox on June 6, 1980 and became the model pastor's wife serving others. Durenda was an excellent cook and homemaker and worked as director of the food pantry in Horseshoe Bend and kitchen manager at Cotter Public Schools. Survivors include her husband; three sons and their spouses: Brian and Amy of Mtn. Home, Brad and Beth of Salem, Brent and Crystal of Salem; 12 grandchildren: Ashley (Al), Levi, Lane, Luke, Caleb, Steven, Brandon, Evan, Audriena, Michael, Isabella, and Addaline; 1 great-granddaughter; her mother, Maxine Cochran Smith of Ash Flat; a brother, Mickel (Debbie) Smith of Strawberry; many other relatives and good friends. Durenda was preceded in death by her father, John Leonard Smith, and a brother, Roger. Visitation of family and friends will be Friday, November 5 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the chapel of Tri-County Funeral Home at Highland. The funeral service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. with Bro. Steve Neal officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland.
