Don Jerome Sabie passed away June 23, 2021 in Cherokee Village, Arkansas, due to ongoing cardiac issues. He was born April 1, 1938 in Egeland, North Dakota to Norman and Helen Sabie. He was the oldest of six children. Don graduated from La Porte High School in 1956 where he was an all-star athlete. He received the WLOI Athlete of the Year award his senior year. He also achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He attended Indiana State University and started his career as a plumber becoming the first licensed master plumber in La Porte County. Don had a successful career building many homes over the years in northern Indiana. He resided most of his life in La Porte, Indiana before retiring to Cherokee Village. Don had many hobbies and interests in his lifetime: golfing, hunting, fishing, billiards, gardening, and his latest, rockhounding. He won many tournaments and competitions. His latest hobby yielded beautiful jewelry that had interest from people all over the country. Survivors include four children: Don "Butch" Jr., David Sabie, Glenn Ringle, and Niki Hansen; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Norma; two brothers: Chris and Robert. No services are planned at this time. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date. Arrangements are with Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland, Arkansas.
