Mallisa Claudine "Dean" Tarpley, 84, of Hardy, Arkansas passed away August 6, 2021 in Wanatah, Indiana. She was born March 28, 1937 in Caraway, AR to Oscar and Ruby (Malone) Beaty. She married Donald Theodore Tarpley in Knox, IN on July 28, 1951. Dean was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and enjoyed being a homemaker and later working as a nurse. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988; her parents; a daughter, Karen Jean Burleson; a son, Gilbert Andrew Tarpley; brothers, Thomas and Donald Beaty; sisters, Wanda Marsh and Alice Woodruff. Survivors include her children: Sandra (Michael) Mooney of Custer, South Dakota, Donald R. (Mary) Tarpley of Hardy, Malisa Curry of Custer, and Charles David (Sherri) Tarpley of King, North Carolina; 42 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles (Nancy) Beaty of Cave City, Arkansas; two sisters, Jo Ann (Allen) Metts and Glenda (Robert) Weinkauff, both of Wanatah; son-in-law, David Burleson of Hardy; daughter-in-law, Dana Tarpley of Hardy; sisters-in-law, Juanita Beaty of Westville, Indiana and Evelyn Beaty of Hardy; brother-in-law, Dan Woodruff of Westville; many other relatives and good friends. Visitation of family and friends will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 13 at New Hope Baptist Church six miles north of Hardy on Hwy. 175. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 14 at the church with grandson Justin Tarpley officiating. Dean will be laid to rest in the Tarpley Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Charles Tarpley, Andrew Tarpley, Travis Curry, Joe Burleson, Daniel Mize, and Dwayne Metts. Arrangements are with Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland, Arkansas.
