Danny Wayne Slayton, 68, of rural north Sharp County near Williford, Arkansas, peacefully departed this life at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock. He had been a general contractor (Slayton Construction & Roofing) for 35 years and had many friends who sincerely trusted him. Danny was a devoted Christian man attending Ward St. Church of Christ in Hardy, Arkansas, for 42 years. He also served as a trustee of Baker Community Cemetery near Williford. He married Linda Kay Baker on July 22, 1976. His hobbies included deer hunting, fishing, working with his cattle, and driving his Ford tractor. He loved his family and always helped anyone in need. Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Marion and Barbara Ellen Stevens Slayton; brothers, Joe Ed Slayton and Bob Slayton; sisters: Lou Taylor, Barbara Jo King, and Mary Miner; and father-in-law, Floyd Baker. Survivors include his wife, Linda; daughter, Amanda Kay and her husband Jeff Boyster of Little Rock; son, Aaron Wayne Slayton of Williford; sisters, Elizabeth Bradford of Paducah, Kentucky and Sally Powers of West Memphis, Arkansas; brothers: David (Barbara) Slayton of Grand Blanc, Michigan, Richard Slayton of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and Bill Slayton of Hardy; mother-in-law, Anna Baker of Williford; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and good friends. Services will be Saturday, August 15, 2020. Visitation of family and friends will begin at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Tri-County Funeral Home at Highland with the funeral to follow at 11 a.m. Minister Rick Bright will officiate. Burial will be in Baker Community Cemetery. COVID-19 mandates include social distancing and use of masks.
