Danny Murphy

Danny Gene Murphy, 74, of Center, Arkansas in Sharp County passed away December 8 in a Jonesboro hospital. He was born August 11, 1949 and was a 1967 graduate of Highland High School where he subsequently worked in maintenance retiring as custodial supervisor after 45 years of service to the school district. Danny will long be remembered for his knowledge and sincere Rebel Pride of excellence in facilitating the daily efforts of students and staff at HHS.

He was a member of Bettis Town Church of Christ, the Cattlemen's Association and the Livestock Association, and a long-time board member of Sharp County Farm Bureau. Danny loved cattle farming, singing in church, and rebuilding cars.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Ruby Eason Murphy; his beloved wife, Virginia; three brothers: Dean, Dale, and Sam Murphy; a brother-in-law, Johnny Dawson; and a step-son, Danny McGuire.

Survivors include his sister, Willene Dawson of Chandler, Arizona; nieces and nephews: Kim, Cody, Matt, Debbie, Phyllis, and Stephenia; a step-son, Gary Conway; a step-daughter-in law, Wanita McGuire; step-grandsons: Skyler Conway, Jordan and Colby McGuire; many other relatives and good friends.

Visitation of family and friends will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 16 in the chapel of Tri-County Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at noon with C. C. Baird officiating. Burial will be in Center Cemetery.
