Clyde Dean Martin, 90, of Cherokee Village, Arkansas passed away Friday, July 29, 2022 at CHI St. Vincent's Hospital in Little Rock. He was born May 9, 1932 in Streator, Illinois, and was preceded in death by his parents, Silas and Edna Knox Martin, a brother, and three sisters. Clyde was a veteran of the U.S. Army in the 1950s and later worked as a security officer in law enforcement. His hobbies included woodworking, carpentry, and traveling. He was an avid sports fan of his grandchildren playing ball and would go great distances to watch and comment. Clyde was an active and vocal member of Hardy United Methodist Church and would talk to anyone with whom he could witness his love of Christ's teachings. He was always concerned about the welfare of people while also being "a character" who loved to tease. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Nancy; his three daughters: Susan Day (Tommy) of Cherokee Village, Kathy Acerra (James) of Mountain Home, and Patti Abney (Dean) of Agnos; five grandchildren: Angie, Alex, Kevin, Eric (Starr), and Kelsey; numerous step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren: Kamren, Kiley, Mason, and one on the way; many other special relatives and great friends. A Celebration of Life glorifying God will be Sunday, August 7, at HUMC with visitation of family and friends beginning at 2 p.m. The service Clyde planned will begin at 3 p.m. with Pastor Kay Brogdon officiating. In lieu of flowers or plants, the family encourages memorial donations to Hardy United Methodist Church.
