Bobby Vernon Gentry, 79, of Ash Flat, Arkansas left this world to be in the arms of his Heavenly Father on August 5, 2023. Bobby was born June 3, 1944 to Ira R. and Ila C. (Spires) Gentry in Jacksonville, Illinois. Bobby was a member of the Liberty Hill Church near Hardy, Arkansas where he attended until his health failed. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving in Washington, D. C. during President Kennedy's time in office. He never married but had great love for his brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews. Above all he was a Christian. He was very close to his brother Ray who passed before him. He spent many days by his side. Bob had a way of making everyone around him laugh even if you wanted to cry; he was kind and caring. He loved going for rides; when he could no longer drive, his faithful caregivers drove him. He loved all of them and held them close to his heart, especially Virginia Collins and Pat Hubbard. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers: Jerry, Billie, Ray, Timmy, and Donald; and four sisters: Mary, Susie, Kathy, and Wanda. Survivors include a brother, Ralph of Moline, Illinois and a sister, Ruth (Johnny) Corlis of Ash Flat; a sister-in-law, Lori Gentry Goodman of Highland; many nieces and nephews; several other relatives and good friends. Memorial services will be Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 9 a.m. in Liberty Hill Church, 177 Ridge Road, Hardy, AR 72542.
