William Clifton Horton was born October 4, 1924 at Ash Flat, Arkansas, the sixth child of Alton and Crystal Horton. He departed this physical life June 14, 2021 at the age of 96 in Ash Flat. Preceding him in death were his wife of 71 years, Berniece; his parents; four sisters: Marie, Sue, Bonnie, and Joyce; and five brothers: Roy, Clyde, Denzil, Glen, and Oren. Bill served his country in the United States Army and was awarded a Purple Heart and three bronze Service Stars for his efforts in World War II including activity in Normandy, northern France, and Rhineland. He had worked as a supervisor for the Bonneville Power Administration erecting powerlines in Washington, Oregon, and Montana. He also worked at Boeing aircraft company. After retirement he continued to be active in work as a carpenter, farmer, and Helping Hands School bus driver. Bill was a faithful member of the Ash Flat church of Christ and led singing at church and numerous funerals. Survivors include his brother, Jim, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was respected throughout his community by a host of good friends. Visitation with family will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 16, at the Ash Flat church of Christ. The funeral service will start at 11:00 with Theron Isaacs and Stan Horton officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Wiles Cemetery. Pallbearers include Dirk Nelson, Dennis, Stan, Stacy, Lee, and Larry Horton. Arrangements are with Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland, Arkansas.
