William "Bill" Andrew Daniel Jr. was born March 29, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan and passed away February 26, 2025 at his home near Ash Flat, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, William A. and Mary Louise (Welbaum) Daniel, and a brother, Jim Daniel.
Bill was a proud veteran of the United States Army having served in Vietnam where he earned the Bronze Star and the nickname of "Doorgunner" in the 101st Air Assault; he also worked as a cook and kitchen supervisor who delivered meals to the men in the field. Later in civilian life, he worked for General Motors as a precision grinder.
Bill was the ultimate "people person" who never met a stranger. He enjoyed riding motorcycles with family and friends and was an avid hunter and custom car enthusiast.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Davis Daniel; four sons: Chris Gurley (Tosha) of Ash Flat, Jon Birckhead (Tammy) and David Birckhead (Kelly), all of Huntingdon, Tennessee, and William Joseph Daniel (Mandy) of Detroit; several grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; a brother, David Daniel; three sisters: Nancy Weaver, Cathy Koslowski, and Dianna Berchiolly; multiple nieces and nephews; many other relatives; and a host of good friends.
A public visitation of family and friends will be Monday, March 3, 2025 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Tri-County Funeral Home at Highland, Arkansas. Bill will be honored by the U.S Army with a military tribute at 6:30 p.m.
