Betty Moore

Betty Sue Hollis Cothran Moore of Cherokee Village, Arkansas, was born November 3, 1938, in Clarksdale, Mississippi, to James Sidney and Bessie Dunn Hollis. She graduated from Gunnison High School and earned a BSE and M.Ed. from Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi. She worked as a guidance counselor with compassion and concern for all students and staff at Weston High School in Greenville. Betty departed this life October 20, 2020, to spend eternity with her Savior Jesus Christ. She was an active and faithful member of Spring River Baptist Church. "Nanu" exhibited her sincere love for her family and friends and was loved by all of them. Everyone knew her sweet spirit of personal generosity and spiritual testimony. Betty had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh through her sense of adventure. Hobbies included reading, playing card games, dancing, and frequenting yard sales, always coming home with some treasure. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry E. Moore; her brother, James Sidney Hollis, Jr. and his wife Ana; her sister, Dorothy Hollis Brown and her husband, Quentin. Survivors include her children: Susan Cothran Carrier Funnell and husband Kim of Cherokee Village, Jimmy Cothran Jr. and partner Mike Taunton of Bryant, Arkansas, Robert Sidney “Rocky” Cothran and wife Sharon of Higdon, Arkansas, Robin and husband Darrel Connick of Calgary,Canada, Larry and wife Nina Moore of Greenville, Todd and wife Stacy Moore of Ashville, North Carolina; ten grandchildren: Danielle Sky (Adam) Kingsbury, Jeffery “Buddy” (Cailin) Carrier, Austin Cothran, Sydney Cothran, Josh Moore, Dusty (Misty) Baker, Meredith Moore, Brittany Moore, Kayla Lyles, and Patrick Moore; great-grandchildren: Koby, MaKinley, Heisman, Titus, Darien, Lee, Ash, Lacy, Caleb, and Kyndalyn; many other cherished relatives and friends. Celebration of Life services for Betty Moore will begin with visitation of family and friends at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 24, in Spring River Baptist Church, north of Hardy, Arkansas. The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. with Bro. Terry Linderman officiating. Burial will be beside her beloved Harry in Bronaugh Cemetery next to the church. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to Spring River Baptist Church, P.O. Box 3, Hardy, AR 72542. Arrangements are entrusted to Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland, Arkansas. COVID-19 directives of social distancing and use of masks will be observed.
