Wayne Hill

December 9, 1921 — May 14, 2020

James Wayne Hill, 98, of Highland, Arkansas, was an active member of Ward Street Church of Christ in Hardy and a retired CPA who loved gardening and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps having served in the South Pacific during World War II. Wayne earned a degree in accounting from Tulane University and spent most of his career with Standard of Indiana (Amoco) which is now owned by BP. He was the ultimate "Southern gentleman" of kindness, giving, and caring about others. Wayne was preceded in death by his wife of 72 blissful and blessed years, Gena Lee Buchanan Hill; his parents, Thomas E. and Mary Taylor Hill; and nine siblings: Thomas, Joel, Agnes, Nannie Mae, Lois, Eldred, William, Bobbi, and Charles. Survivors include his children: Ann and Don Becker of Aurora, Colorado, Terrance and Susan Hill of Center, Arkansas, Robert and Becky Hill of St. Charles, Illinois, Bryan and Leah Hill of Phoenix, Arizona; eleven grandchildren: Meghan, Caitlin, Jay, Adam, Bryan, Kim, Danny, Marla, Laura, Jackson, and Randall; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and good friends. Visitation of family and friends will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2020, at the Hill Cemetery in Center, Arkansas. Graveside service with military honors will follow at 11 o'clock. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are encouraged by the family to Ward St. Church of Christ, P.O. Box 224, Hardy, AR 72542. Arrangements are with Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland, Arkansas.
