Leland G. Bailey, 87, of Ash Flat, Arkansas, passed away January 16, 2018, at White River Medical Center in Batesville, Arkansas. He was born September 23, 1930, the eldest of eight children, to General and Ruby (Nicholson) Bailey in Ash Flat. Mr. Bailey was of the Christian faith. He grew up in Ash Flat and worked at the family sawmill as a teenager. He served his country in the U.S. Army and travelled across the nation working at various jobs but had retired as an engineer in the tool and die making industry. Leland loved to hunt and fish and tell stories about his adventures. His family was most important as he enjoyed good times with his brothers, nieces and nephews, and grandkids. He believed he had much to teach. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Roy; two sisters, Della Brown and El Wanda Massey; his wife, Kay; a daughter, Mona; and a granddaughter, Sierra Goodman. Survivors include his children: Rebecca Bailey of Wichita, Kansas, Rodney (Melinda) Williams of Cherokee Village, Arkansas, Melissa (Gene) Moore of Ash Flat; grandchildren: Shasta Villari, Trisha (Tommy) Wilson, Allen (Lauren) Moore, Garrett Moore, Margo (Ali) Bouhouch; great-grandchildren: Chase, Brady, Bryce, Layla, Jody, Kaylie, Makayla, Norah, Taylin, and Mariam; brothers and their spouses: Gerald & Fayrene of Cave City, Cletus & Jo Ann of Ash Flat, Dale & Olena of Ash Flat, Glenn & Linda of Ash Flat; many other relatives and good friends. Visitation of family and friends will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, January 19, in the chapel of Tri-County Funeral Home at Highland, Arkansas. A brief service will begin at 11 with Glenn Bailey as speaker. Burial will follow in Calvary Baptist Cemetery located on Hwy. 167 between Ash Flat and Evening Shade. Pallbearers include Gene Moore, Rodney Williams, Chase Williams, Tommy Wilson, Mark Miller, and Bill Russell. Arrangements are with Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland.
