George Richard "Dick" Hays, 72, of Cherokee Village, Arkansas, passed away at his home November 23, 2017, after a short illness. He was born January 23, 1945, in Elkview, West Virginia. George was a graduate of Clendenin High School and attended Concord College. He was proud to have served eight years in the United States Air Force in Vietnam. He went to work at DuPont in Belle, West Virginia, and retired with 27 years of service. He then moved to Arkansas where he loved to fish, and he worked for Safe Ride for seven years and for Golden Transportation. George had a great love of sports, especially his Mountaineers and the Washington Redskins. George was a kind, caring, and giving man. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Michelle; his parents, George Edward and Tida R. (Slack) Hays; a brother, Clifford R. Hays; and a brother-in-law, Fordyce Wyatt of Ripley, West Virginia. Survivors include his wife, Cindy K. (Stowe) Hays of the home; his sons, Jason Edward (Joanne) of Elkview, West Virginia, and David Christopher (Crystal) Hays of Charleston, West Virginia; his sister, Alice Faye Wyatt of Ripley, West Virginia; three nieces and one nephew; his in-laws, Wes and Pat Stowe; Cindy's children: Elias and Wesley Krohn of Wisconsin, Kurtis Krohn Stowe of Tennessee, and Tricia Valoria of California; as well as many other relatives and good friends. As per his wishes, George will be cremated, and his ashes will be distributed accordingly in the family plot in West Virginia. There will be no public service.
