John Robert "Bob" Olson, 63, of Evening Shade, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2017, in Batesville, Arkansas, after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born June 30, 1954, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Ralph and Eileen (Larson) Olson. John passionately worked as a surveyor for various companies. He loved people and helped start the careers of numerous young people. John never knew a stranger. His hobbies included his "job" of surveying as well as gardening and fishing because he loved being outdoors. His fun in life involved being the ultimate prankster. John was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Carol. Survivors include his wife, Barbara; sons, Larry of Oklahoma City and John (Erica) of Dallas; stepson, Jeremiah Sherrod of Evening Shade; granddaughter, Colette; sister, Jeannie (Keith) Hansen of Greeley, Nebraska; brothers, Gary (Suzan) Olson of Meridian, Mississippi, and Ralph Olson of Midland, Texas; many, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and dear friends. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 18, 2017, in the chapel of Tri-County Funeral Home at Highland with Henry Parker and David Thompson officiating. Visitation is from 1 p.m. until service time. Burial will be in Campground Cemetery located between Ash Flat and Evening Shade off Hwy. 167.
