HARDY - Delbert Wayne Jones, 67, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2017. He was born March 6, 1949, in Hardy. Delbert was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Vietnam. He had worked in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Illinois, and Iowa but moved back home to Hardy for retirement. He loved fishing, hanging out with family and friends, listening to old country music on his eight-track tape player, and watching Westerns on television. Delbert lived life to the fullest. He worked hard, played harder, and loved to dance. He was preceded in death by his parents, Flossie and Buster Jones; brothers, Donald Lee Jones and Junior Ray Jones; and sister, Christine Cooper. Survivors include his daughters, Nolie Kern of Gilbert, Arizona, and Phoenix (Matt) Klemann of Navarre, Florida; step-daughter, Rochelle Childress and family; grandsons, Canyon and Christian Smith; brothers, James (Shirley) Jones of Hindsville, Arkansas, and Harvey Jones of Hardy; sisters, Muriel (Bill) Wagner of Iowa City, Iowa, Bonnie Morgan and Dephaletia Jones, both of Hardy; 18 nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and good friends. Funeral service will be Thursday, February 16, at 2 p.m. in the Tri-County Funeral Home Chapel in Highland with Stanley Jones officiating. Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Pallbearers include Michael Morgan, Seth McCarty, Morgan McCarty, Jerry Lawson, Charlie Horrell, and William Kirkland.
