"Jake" Jasper William Johnson, 88, of Ash Flat, Arkansas, died Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at EagleCrest Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born July 27, 1928, at Grange, Arkansas, and was of the Christian faith and a Mason. Jake loved gardening, mowing, fishing, telling stories, and talking with everyone. He became an icon of honesty and helpfulness in north Arkansas through ownership of his hardware store. Jake was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil O. and Margie Hoggard Johnson; brother, Denver Johnson; grandson, Justin Lee Johnson; great-granddaughter, Ava Grace Trevino; and daughter-in-law, Christal Johnson. Survivors include his wife, Hildred Ann Sharp Johnson, of the home; a son, Donnie Lee Johnson of Ash Flat; five daughters: Carol Ann (Doug) Cooper of Ash Flat, Judy Kay (David) Warden of Wiseman, Debbie Wright (David Presley) of Ash Flat, Robin (Val) Robison of Texarkana, and Sherry (Doug) Harber of Ash Flat; 11 grandkids; 11 great-grandkids; a sister, Mary Beth Milligan; brothers, Kelmer and Sam Johnson; and many other relatives and good friends. A celebration of Jake's life will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 29, at the Ash Flat Church of Christ with Tommie Boles officiating. Visitation will be 1 p.m. to service time. Burial will be at Wiles Cemetery in Ash Flat. Pallbearers will be Aaron Johnson, Dane Perkins, John Shackelford, Weston Stroud, Joshua Warden, Carlos Trevino, Kohn Runsick, and Trey Lyons. Honorary pallbearers include Hailey Shackelford, Jennifer Lyons, Tonya Runsick, Lindsay Trevino, Callie Stroud, Jayce Perkins, and Trenton Robison.
