Wilnoree Long

Wilnoree Murphy Long, 83, of the Liberty Hill community, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2016, at EagleCrest Nursing and Rehab Center in Ash Flat. She was born October 5, 1932, at Osceola to Ray and Thelma Schales Murphy. She married Wayburn Long on December 26, 1956, and together they operated the family farm for thirty years. Mrs. Long worked as a secretary for the Sharp County Conservation District for several years and retired as a receptionist for a local propane company in Hardy. She was an active member of the Ash Flat United Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was also active in the Liberty Hill Extension Homemakers Club and the Sharp County Fair Home Economics division. Wilnoree was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, W. R. and Edward Murphy. Survivors include her children, Malcolm (Sherry) Long of Batesville and Wayne (Becky) Long; two brothers, J.R. and Chuck Murphy, both of Hardy; three grandchildren, Meghan Long (Jason Johnson), Jason Long (Britney Bair), and Grant Long; one great-grandson, Kiptan Gallagher; many nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and good friends. Visitation with the family will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Tri-County Funeral Home Chapel in Highland. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Friday in Ash Flat United Methodist Church with Larry Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers include Jason Long, Grant Long, Jason Johnson, Nicky Murphy, Bryan Long, and Mark Long. In lieu of flowers, please consider Ash Flat United Methodist Church.
