Fern L. Fogarty Parker, 96, of Hardy, Arkansas, died Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at EagleCrest Nursing and Rehab Center in Ash Flat, Arkansas. She was born June 7, 1919, near Paton in Greene County, Iowa, to Pearl and Frank Fogarty. Fern attended schools in Greene County, Iowa, and graduated from Paton High School in 1937. That same year she married Charlie C. Parker in Scranton, Iowa. She and Charlie established homes on farms near Grand Junction, Adaza, and Callendar, Iowa. In 1944 they bought their own farm near Lehigh in Webster County. They lived there for 26 years at which time they bought and moved to a cattle ranch near Ravenden Springs, Arkansas. They retired to Hardy. Fern became a member of the Methodist Church in 1957 and was a faithful member until her death. She joined the Hardy United Methodist Church in 1989 and was the oldest current member. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Survivors include cousins, nieces and nephews, and many good friends. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 15, in the chapel of Tri-County Funeral Home at Highland with Nancy Cameron officiating. Visitation will be 1 p.m. until service time. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery at Highland. Arrangements are with Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland.
