Lamon Barton Bearden, 77, of Hardy, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2016. Born March 26, 1939, in Poughkeepsie, Arkansas, he was the son of Jess and Vela (Runsick)Bearden. A resident for many years of Kokomo, Indiana, he worked for Cuneo Press and was a retiree of Penn Dixie Steel. After study at Ivy Tech in Kokomo, he became a small engine mechanic. In 1995 he moved to Arkansas and established Lamon’s Small Engine Service where he worked for many years treating all his customers as family. He enjoyed spending time with family and raising cattle. He never missed a NASCAR race or a breakfast with his buddies. Lamon was a member of Ash Flat Church of Christ and also attended Spring River Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Judy (Martin, Turner) Bearden; sons, Denny and Jon (Mary) Bearden of Kokomo and Marty (Lisa) Turner of Fayetteville, Arkansas; daughters, Carla Bearden of Kokomo and Cara (Mike) Combs of Russiaville, Indiana; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Neda Spurlock and Dottie Dodson of Evening Shade; several nieces and nephews and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, McArthur "Mac" Bearden; and a daughter, Christina Bearden. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 23, in the chapel of Tri-County Funeral Home at Highland with Pastor Terry Linderman officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery near Center. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 22, at Tri-County Funeral Home.
