Alva Ray Evans, 85, of Hardy, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016, at White River Medical Center in Batesville, Arkansas. He was born June 3, 1930, at Ash Flat, Arkansas. Ray retired after working two years for Hardy Telephone Company and 28 years for CenturyTel. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Saddle. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Herbert and Margaret DuVall Evans; his son, Mitchell Ray Evans; and two brothers, Billy Mae Evans and Herbert Elwood Evans. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Jean French Evans of the home; children, Danny Max (Stephanie) Evans of Hardy, Aletha (Paul) Scott of Ash Flat, Illa Jean (David Lynn) Jones of Hardy, Rheanell (Nelson) Pollard of Mountain Home, Arkansas; sisters, Willene Gaston and Lucille Williams, both of Franklin, Arkansas; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many other relatives and good friends. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 21, in the chapel of Tri-County Funeral Home at Highland. Private family graveside services will begin at 2 p.m. Friday, April 22, in French Cemetery with Stan Jones officiating. Pallbearers will be Sam Scott, Tommy Evans, Casey Clouse, Dallas Evans, Zack Pollard, Daniel Evans, Cory Clouse, Leif Evans, and Dylan Evans. Honorary pallbearers are Brandy Hogan, Sara Scott, Magen Clouse, and Holly Denton. Arrangements are with Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland.
