Robert L. Bettis Jr., 89, of Highland, Arkansas, died Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He was born December 11, 1926, at Williford, Arkansas. Mr. Bettis was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a teacher for 30 years, and a farmer. He was a member of the Ash Flat Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. and Grace Noth Bettis. Survivors include his wife, Nelda Jean Bettis of the home; children, Robby and Brenda Bettis of Pocahontas, Arkansas, and Freda and Frankie Arnhart of Jonesboro, Arkansas; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Ann Flippin of Searcy, Arkansas; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and good friends. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, February 19, 2016, in the Tri-County Funeral Home Chapel with Johnny Carter officiating. Visitation begins at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Williford Cemetery. Pallbearers include Chad Arnhart, Jeremy Arnhart, Josh Bettis, Jacob Bettis, Brandon Bettis, and Brandon Burgess. Arrangements are with Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland.
