Curtis Neal Horton, 86, of Hardy, Arkansas, was born April 4, 1929, at Hardy. He died November 27, 2015, at Jonesboro, Arkansas. He had worked as a well-known, well-liked, and accomplished fence builder and logger. As a young man, Neal enjoyed playing baseball and loved listening to the St. Louis Cardinals as well as playing cards and dominoes. He was a graduate of Ash Flat High School in 1951. Neal was always even-tempered with everyone; he never met a stranger and never had anyone dislike him. He truly believed in "The Chain of Love" and "paying it forward." Mr. Horton was a veteran of the Korean War and was of the Church of Christ faith. He was caretaker of Shiloh Cemetery at Ash Flat for several years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Bruce and Cora Mae Nickolson Horton, and seven brothers: William Malvin, Jefferey Bruce, Horace Russell, Carl Forster, Lowell Borden, Paul Elmore, and Scott Monrol Horton. Survivors include his wife, Sarah Jane Cochran Horton; a sister, Laverna May Parrish; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 1, with funeral services beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 2, all in the chapel of Tri-County Funeral Home at Highland. Burial with military honors will follow in Shiloh Cemetery east of Ash Flat, Arkansas. Pallbearers include Max Denton, Johnny Kelley, Randy Horton, Michael Jones, Glyn Cochran, and Billy Joe Ward. Honorary pallbearers will be Randle Schales and Bill Harrison. Arrangements are with Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland.
