William Stephen Sims Jr., 83, of Cherokee Village, Arkansas, a former resident of Harvard, Illinois, was born March 21, 1932 at Oak Park, Illinois. He died October 28, 2015 at his home in the presence of his four daughters. He was a sergeant in the U. S. Marine Corps and a veteran of the Korean War, a graduate of Northern Illinois University, and a process engineer. He was an avid fisherman and loved to walk his dog in the woods. He also thoroughly enjoyed travel with his wife and family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Patricia; his parents, William Stephen Sr. and Marion Canton Sims; and a brother, Robert. Survivors include his daughters, Victoria (Timothy) Linhart of Harvard, Illinois, Laura (Robert) Schrom of Rockford, Illinois, Karen (Kimberly Hartnett) Sims of Vernon Hills, Illinois, and Kathleen (Herbert) Grimm of Capron, Illinois; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one niece; three nephews; and other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, November 7 at Saunders-McFarlin Funeral Home in Harvard, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, donations to Legacy Hospice, 106 W. Locust St., Salem, AR 72576 will be appreciated. Arrangements are with Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland.
