Betty Jo Volner, 83, of Cherokee Village, Arkansas, passed away Friday, May 1, 2015, at White River Medical Center in Batesville, Arkansas. She was born October 18, 1931, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, to Estel L. and Elizabeth (Walker) Birdsong. She was a school teacher and principal for many years and a member of First Baptist Church in Hardy. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William E. Volner; and one sister. Survivors include her sons, Richard and Jay Sheehy; her sister, Nancy A. Patton; her brother, Kenneth A. Birdsong; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5, at First Baptist Church in Hardy with Rev. Larry Strope officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Interment will be in Memorial Gardens in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Hardy, P.O. Box 27, Hardy, AR 72542.
