Joe Stacey, 88, of Cherokee Village, Ark. passed away Monday, Feb. 9, 2015, at EagleCrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ash Flat, Ark. He was born Aug. 20, 1926, in Clever, Mo., to Otto and Chloris Stacey. Joe served his country in the U.S. Navy. He had worked for International Harvester for 37 years before retiring to Cherokee Village in 1981. As an active civic-minded member of the community, Joe served on the boards of Eastern Ozarks Hospital, Ozarka College, and Spring River Ambulance Service, First National Banking Company Board of Directors, and as a Sharp County Justice of the Peace representing Cherokee Village for two terms of Quorum Court. He was a member of the Highland Elks Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter Anna Stacey. Survivors include his wife Olive of the home; son Rex (Deb) Stacey of Belle Plains, Minn.; daughters Lana (Dave) Hamilton of Cherokee Village, Ark., Lynn (Phil) Hoffman of Sandwich, Ill., and Jane (Robert) Johnson of Ash Flat, Ark.; grandchildren Staci, Courtney, Grady, Donny Joe, Kyle, and Colt; great-grandchildren Alexa, Cia, Jace, Cade, and Cash,and a host of other relatives and friends. The family will have memorial services at a later date. Arrangements are with Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland, Ark.
