Robert "Bob" Ray Garrett, 88, of Cherokee Village, passed away Thursday, January 1, 2015, at White River Medical Center in Batesville, Arkansas. He was born on September 24, 1926, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Jesse Louis Garrett and Julia Jerusha Summers. He had worked as a switchman in the Plant Department of Bell South and was a member of the Spring River Presbyterian Church in Hardy and Lindenwood Church Disciple of Christ in Memphis. He was also a Mason in Memphis for 50 years at Desota Lodge #299 and served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1947. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nancy Queenan Garrett, three brothers, and three sisters. Survivors include one daughter Sharon Ann Maher and her husband Pat of Cherokee Village, Arkansas; brothers Richard S. Garrett of Memphis, Tennessee, and James H. Garrett of Huntsville, Alabama; sisters Margaret E. Baskin of Parker, Colorado, and Doris Stevens of Spring Hill, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. A private memorial service will be held at a later date by the family. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to a local food bank.
