Betty Jean Hicks, age 84, of Ash Flat, Arkansas passed away Thursday, October 25, 2012 at White River Medical Center in Batesville, Arkansas. She was born June 27, 1928 in Afton, Iowa to Louis Greenfield and Opal Wick. Betty was a housewife, loving mother, and friend to all that knew her. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, lifetime member of the Elks Lodge, and was very passionate about gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, James William Vaughn and Herbert Lester Hicks; and two brothers. Survivors include her husband, James Bryce VanBellehem, Jr. of the home; one son, James Vaughn and wife Mickey of Lincoln, Nebraska; one daughter, Debra Cochran and husband Brad of Ash Flat, Arkansas; one brother; three Grandchildren; three Great Grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will begin Sunday, October 28, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Tri-County Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Floyd Rikard officiating. Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery located in Highland, Arkansas. Visitation will be Sunday, October 28, 2012 from 12:00 Noon until service time.
